Why Lighting Matters #5…the Pendant

The pendant is the perfect light when a space is too small for a chandelier, but needs something that hangs and is not a flush mount.

Places to hang pendants-

1. Small entry.

2. Over kitchen island.

3. Over bathtub.

4. Mudroom.

5. Large closet.

If you use a pendant anywhere else, it will either hang to low or the space probably needs a larger light fixture. Sometimes, when browsing online you will see what looks like a chandelier called a pendant and that would be ok to use like a chandelier as long as the sizing works with the space.

Lighting over an island in a kitchen can be a bit tricky. You can use a chandelier or two if its a very long island and the chandeliers are not rectangular. You can also use multiple pendants over an island.
